Hi guys ! In this dev log I'll be a little more specific about the new additions, there are a few "catches" that you should know about. If you don't want spoilers, I suggest reading only what is in bold.
First of all and perhaps most importantly: Hero Corruption 2's End Game challenge has finally been implemented. The Tower can be unlocked by reaching a certain amount of Fame (currently 800) and visiting the Tavern.
When starting the challenge, the player will be presented to a new screen, in which you'll able to customize with a series of toggles, such as setting a minimum health for all enemies, bonus health, restoring stamina at the end of each encounter and frequency of boss encounters.
The player who chooses to make their challenge harder will receive better rewards, currently there is a Fame multiplier that increases or decreases according to the challenge difficulty, meaning that you're also free to make the challenge easier, however, the Fame gained will be lower. In addition, tower-exclusive content such as achievements, highscores and unique bad endings will be disabled if the difficulty is too low.
To complement the Tower, High Score System has been reworked, there will be two types of Records now: the Tower Record, which will take into consideration the highest floor the player has reached, and the Fame Record, which you are already used to. Both will display, in addition to the hero's name and best score, the enemy by which the hero was defeated and the IRL date.
Three new enemies have also been implemented: Dakota, a shemale enemy in the Jungle with an exclusive persistent debuff; Cassandra, the new boss in Plains and Gabrielle, which is part of a new collection of enemies called bonus enemies, we'll talk about that later.
Gabrielle and Cassandra are two enemies who work together, separately. Cassandra can be found on the fourth day at the Plains and she has two important roles: Enable Gabrielle encounter and be a unique-ish challenge to the tower.
Once the hero is defeated by Cassandra, which is probably bound to happen on the early days, Gabrielle's encounter will begin, she is the "real" boss in the Plains. Cassandra will only become a fair fight in the Tower, when the hero has enough attributes to deal with her.
Gabrielle can be found in two ways: The first, as mentioned above, by being defeated by Cassandra, the second one is being knocked out by HP, which will have a 20% chance of triggering Gabrielle's encounter instead of waking up in the other day with less gold. The second trigger will only occur if Gabrielle has not been defeated on that run.
Please watch out, as Gabrielle encounter won't be triggered if you're climbing the Tower. At this time, bonus enemies are not included in the Tower rotation.
Bonus enemies are not tied to a specific area, and their profile can be seen by clicking on the star located on the bottom-right corner of the screen at the Gallery/Enemies screen. You might want to keep an eye out for Gabrielle as you can unlock two new traits, a positive and a negative one.
Finally, the last quick-time event was finished and will possibly replace the "Confused" debuff in Amy. The new debuff is called "Dodging" and has AGI as its main attribute. I still think the QTE lacks some polishing, but I'll deal with that in the future.
This is a huge patch in terms of content and may be the one that I spent the most time working on, Gabrielle alone is the biggest enemy script in the game, surpassing Gabby's. Before releasing the next version, I need to finish an exclusive Bad Ending for the Tower, add a few more moves to Cassandra and a couple of achievements. Which is quite a lot to do... In addition to all of this, due to the major changes made to the code in order to accommodate the Tower, I expect there to be more bugs than usual, so I'd like to have a reasonable amount of time for playtesting. Let's set the release date for October 6th. I will try my best to release it ealier, but no promises.
